A green structure was created from a restored 1800s building. This includes restoration of the original furniture and recovery of the cement tiles, integrated with the use of green building mortars.
20kw of solar panels and water collection tanks (about 6000l) were installed.
The fixtures used are wooden and maintain the original design and colors but are all thermal break for energy efficiency.
The project was born in 2019 carried on since then at its own expense.
It has received some external aid over time, including the 110 superbonus and the earthquakebonus.
Organization
Bianko ecochic – ospitalità siciliana
A diffuse hotel in the historic center of Enna composed of 3 b&bs and 3 apartments for tourist use, for a total of 40 beds.
It is a green hospitality based on the concept of Sicilian hospitality and the concept of direct relationship with the guest (integrated relational tourism).
Green hospitality means that from 2019 they are totally plastic free, no disposable courtesy kits, only local, 100% natural soaps produced by a craftsman from Enna, breakfasts include only local products from the area and restored original furnishings were used in the facilities.
Impact
The impact has been overwhelmingly positive. Not only has demand surged, but there has also been a significant rise in awareness among tourists, particularly those from abroad. This heightened awareness reflects a growing appreciation for the sustainable and innovative practices implemented. As a result, the destination has attracted more visitors who are increasingly conscious of their travel choices, seeking experiences that align with their values of sustainability and cultural enrichment.
Sustainability
To ensure sustainability, the hospitality concept must remain small, allowing it to maintain high quality and preserve the integrity of its model.
The overarching goal is to promote slow tourism, encouraging visitors to explore the area by bike or even on horseback. This approach not only reduces environmental impact but also provides a more immersive and leisurely travel experience, aligning with sustainable tourism principles.
